Club Repeater Director Eric Ott N6VYT

Repeater DirectorSunday April 22 a repair trip to Park Ridge Repeater Site was scheduled at the Thursday April 19 Club Meeting.  Eric Ott N6VYT and Victor Ruiz KJ6HBG were your repair technicians. We arrived at Grand Grove around 10 am and hiked to the repeater site. We arrived at 11 45 am. During inspection of the equipment in the building it was discovered that the Cisco switch carrying network traffic from the Valley to the repeater site had malfunctioned.  A backup network switch was placed into operation.  IRLP, ECHOLINK, and APRS is now online. During the stay we placed the entire club site on emergency power to test the back up batteries.  Several QSO’s were conducted during the planned outage and the repeater equipment operated normal.

FCC Part 97 (a) Station Identification Review

Part 97 : Sec. 97.119 Station identification

(a) Each amateur station, except a space station or telecommand station, must transmit its assigned call sign on its transmitting channel at the end of each communication, and at least every 10 minutes during a communication, for the purpose of clearly making the source of the transmissions from the station known to those receiving the transmissions. No station may transmit unidentified communications or signals, or transmit as the station call sign, any call sign not authorized to the station.* Remember to identify your station when you are checking into a net.  A reply such as “Hello Bob this is Frank I have no traffic QRU Good evening.” does not comply with the current Part 97 rules.
